Hi all! I’m Adam, cofounder and head of whiskey sourcing for Lost Lantern.
Lost Lantern has always been all about discovery and helping whiskey lovers discover amazing whiskies, wherever they come from. And in many cases, that starts with me discovering those whiskies. Nora and I started Lost Lantern with an eight-month road trip visiting distilleries all across the United States. I still spend nearly half my time visiting distilleries in every corner of the country. And I’m constantly finding new hidden gems or rising stars… and we want to share them with other whiskey lovers as well.
The Lost Lantern Discovery Club, our subscription-based whiskey club, is your chance to discover those whiskies along with me. Every other month, Discovery Club members will receive a new, never-before-released Lost Lantern bottle from a distillery I’m personally incredibly excited about. These whiskies are exclusively available to Discovery Club members.
These hidden gems, rising stars, and regional powerhouses are all distilleries I have personally visited, fallen in love with, and simply want more people to know about.

How It Works
The Lost Lantern Discovery Club is a subscription whiskey club. Every other month, subscribers receive a new Lost Lantern release, exclusively available to Discovery Club members, from a rising star or hidden gem of American whiskey.
Here are the details:
- Available in states that our website ships to and in our Vermont tasting room
- $90 every other month, plus shipping (or add two bottles for 1 cent shipping!)
- Receive a special signup bottle, shipped immediately after Discovery Club purchase
- Following the signup bottle, receive bi-monthly shipments as part of the regular cycle
- Choose to add other whiskies to your order to get one cent shipping
- Get early access to every Lost Lantern release and to our semiannual “Last Drops”
- Join me for special Zoom tastings and occasional conversations with our distillery partners

F.A.Q.
Q: What kind of whiskies can I expect from the Discovery Club?
A: Every other month, you’ll get an exclusive new bottling from a rising star distillery that’s redefining American whiskey. These distilleries, most of them first-time Lost Lantern partners, are hard-to-find and not well known outside of their home turf. The Discovery Club ranges across all styles of American whiskey. Roughly 50% of releases are bourbon, and 50% are other styles, like rye, American single malt, and more unusual whiskies.
Q: What about shipping?
A: To keep the Discovery Club itself affordable, we pass on a portion of shipping costs. But every month, you’ll have the opportunity to add extra bottles of other Lost Lantern releases to your order. We cover shipping (minus a one-cent fee for compliance reasons) for orders of three bottles or more.
Q: What if I want a second bottle of this month’s Discovery Club release?
A: At first, you’ll only be able to grab one bottle of the latest Discovery Club release. If there are any remaining after the initial orders go out (which there sometimes will be, depending on the size of the cask), those will become available afterward exclusively to club members.
Q: I really, really want a second bottle. Can I buy myself two memberships?
A: Yes, and let us know if you do – we can combine them and help everyone save on shipping.
Q: What if I’m traveling or don’t want a particular bottle?
A: We hope you’ll take the leap with us and give most things a try, even if they sound a little unusual! If you have extenuating circumstances, reach out to us at [email protected]!
Q: How does early Lost Lantern access work?
A: Discovery Club members will get access to all new online Lost Lantern releases a few hours earlier than our newsletter. Some of our releases tend to sell out very quickly, so this is a way to make sure you won’t miss out. You’ll get an email a few hours earlier than the standard release giving you the password for our shop.
Q: Why is there a signup bottle?
A: We want you to get your hands on a bottle of whiskey right away after signing up! This will be sent to you immediately. You’ll then start getting shipments every other month as part of the regular cycle. The signup bottle will vary over time, but we’ll always tell you what it is.
Q: What kind of distilleries does the Discovery Club focus on?
A: The Discovery Club focuses on rising stars, hidden gems, and regional distilleries–generally, places that don’t have national distribution or aren’t widely known beyond their home region. In practice, it also tends to focus on distilleries that we have not worked with prior to the Discovery Club.
Q: How are Discovery Club selections similar to or different from regular Lost Lantern releases?
A: Discovery Club bottlings are quite similar to our Single Cask Series. Unless we say otherwise in advance, all releases will be cask strength single casks. As always, everything is non-chill-filtered and totally transparent as to where it comes from. We may on occasion release small multi-barrel blends (Single Distillery Series-style) in the Discovery Club, and (very rarely) non-cask-strength releases, but if so we will always disclose that upfront and why we decided to go that route. Bottles are 750 ml., same as always.
Q: Will you ever do a dedicated bourbon / American Single Malt / unusual whiskey club?
A: Maybe! For now, the Discovery Club focuses on all styles of American whiskey. As the Club grows, we may eventually create separate clubs focused entirely on particular styles.
Q: How does the Discovery Club work in the Vermont tasting room? Can I sign up if I’m not in Vermont?
A: If you’re local, just stop in and sign up, then come snag your new bottle every month! If you aren’t local, but want to pick up at our tasting room a few times a year when you visit Vermont, either email us or ask in the tasting room whenever you’re up here.
