The 2024 Lost Lantern Bourbon Decision Tree
It’s the dog days of summer, but not the dog days of the Summer of Bourbon, which we’re enjoying just as much as ever… and today, we’re continuing the festivities with the launch of the 2024 Lost Lantern Bourbon Decision Tree! We recently released a record nine new bourbons, including the latest edition of our flagship Far-Flung Bourbon and single casks from seven distilleries across seven states. The Summer of Bourbon II Collection, our largest ever, is very wide-ranging. So it’s no surprise to us that the question we get the most is: which bourbon should I get?
The answer to that question is, of course, both obvious and unhelpful: it depends!

Which Lost Lantern Bourbon Should I Get?
The Lost Lantern Bourbon Decision Tree is designed to help with this decision. If we’re being real, there are several factors that will influence which of our bourbons you’re most interested in: the source distillery (is it one you already love? A new one you’re dying to try? Someplace you’ve never even heard of?). The proof. The price. The availability (hard to get bottles that aren’t available in your market!). But the Bourbon Decision Tree is focused on one aspect, one that we all probably agree is generally the most important: flavor!
The decision tree includes every bourbon we currently have available, both the new Summer of Bourbon releases (including the ones that are basically sold out) and other recent releases that are still available.
How the Bourbon Decision Tree Works
At the bottom of the chart, you’ll see every bourbon we currently have available, and the order matters: intensity increases as you move from left to right. That means the lightest bourbons are on the left and the most bold and powerful on the right. Intensity here is a subjective measure. Proof is a part of it, but so is the overall flavor profile.
Knowing that, you should actually start at the top of the chart with the most basic decision about our bourbons: Do you want something bright and balanced, or something big and bold? This will help guide the rest of your journey through the decision tree. If you’re not sure about anything, just pick what sounds best!
