Starlight Distillery Indiana Straight Rye

Real Indiana Rye. No, Not That Indiana Rye.
Ted Huber started Starlight in 2001 to capture the flavors of Indiana grain and fruit from the place his family has farmed for seven generations. Starlight Distillery is part of Huber’s Orchard & Winery, an Indiana institution since 1843, and is in fact a revival of a family distilling legacy: the Hubers were distilling brandy in the area way back in the early 1800s.
Although Starlight is just across the Ohio River from Kentucky and only about 20 miles from Louisville, the climate, conditions, and culture of southern Indiana are quite distinct from their better-known counterparts just to the south. Located at one of the highest points in Southern Indiana, the distillery sees harsher weather conditions and bigger daily temperature swings than the surrounding area, contributing to the development of flavor in the barrel.
This straight rye whiskey was aged for 4 years in a 53-gallon barrel. Made with 85% locally grown rye and 15% malted barley, it has a robust rye spice, with notes of cardamom, molasses, burnt caramel, and lemon zest. This is Indiana whiskey at its finest.

About Starlight Distillery
Ted Huber started Starlight Distillery in 2001 to capture the flavors of Indiana grain and fruit from the place his family has farmed for seven generations. Starlight Distillery is part of Huber’s Orchard & Winery, an Indiana institution since 1843, and is in fact a revival of a family distilling legacy: the Hubers were distilling brandy in the area way back in the early 1800s. Today, Starlight makes a wide range of whiskies and brandies. Just a stone’s throw from Kentucky–Starlight is actually closer to Louisville than many of the big names in Kentucky bourbon–the distillery has become a darling of bourbon lovers on the East Coast.
