The Whiskey Wash – Review: Lost Lantern Corbin Cash California Straight Rye 2025

Appearance: Mahogany turning into burnt umber.

Palate: Hot in the best way. Peppercorn, cayenne, dark chocolates, tart cherries, molasses cookies, cigar box, full body cigar tobacco, rye spices, and charred oak.

Finish: Something sat right at the back of the throat for me, it was really one of the only sour notes. However, it faded quickly. We have notes of rye bread, thick molasses sugar. The finish hits and holds on your tongue, teeth, and throat. It is cloying with light charcoal; and black pepper before fading away.

Comments: What a ride! This was fun. This whiskey is hot and complex. It is not something for everyone, but if you like robust beverages, you’ll like this. There are a lot of flavors competing for your attention, but they all complement each other without becoming overwhelming.

Corbin Cash is a fun and worthwhile pick-up for those who like whiskey at 60+ ABV.
